The inequality of bereavement: A new study analyzes the effect of losing a parent or sibling in early childhood on educational achievement later in life 01.11.2023

The findings of the study show that children who experience loss in early childhood (from ages 1 to 6) have a lower likelihood of qualifying for a bagrut (matriculation) certificate than other children. Furthermore, the study indicates that the loss of a parent and the loss of a sibling have a similar effect on a young child, notwithstanding the more central role of a parent in early childhood.
