Dr. Anat Gafni grew up in Israel and moved to the United States after her army service. After obtaining her Masters in mathematics and computer science from Boston University and her doctorate in computer science (USC), she worked as an engineering and product management executive in startups as well as public companies in the fields of databases, storage management and cloud services.
Dr. Gafni was also the CEO and Founder of InTouchTech, a company that used early smart phone and TV technology to provide an intuitive platform for social interactions to enhance the social lives of the elderly. During her career, Dr. Gafni managed culturally diverse and international teams across the United States, South America, India, China, Japan, and several European countries. Management of multi-cultural teams across time-zones became both a love and an expertise, and she developed innovative methods for making this both fun and effective.
In 2015, she returned to Israel and started pursuing her interests in social and socioeconomic issues through personal study, volunteer work and travel, including joining the Tel Aviv University “Sustainable Development” program that aims to improve the lives of people at the “bottom of the pyramid” using sustainable technology.
“I am proud to serve on the Taub Center Board of Directors because they do an amazing job providing high quality, objective research and analysis of Israel’s social economic situation. Board members get summaries of the research from the experts, and that’s a wonderful aspect of being on the board. Beyond that, such data are essential for running a democracy, and is presented to Knesset members. Without reliable data, one cannot expect them to correctly analyze and address problems. Lastly, everyone who represents the Center, from the board to the researchers, are of remarkable integrity, compassion, and intelligence, making it an honor, an inspiration and a pleasure to work with them.”
