Annie Sandler
Annie Sandler is the President of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC), the world’s leading Jewish humanitarian organization. A noted Jewish, civic, and global philanthropic leader, Sandler has served on JDC’s Board of Directors since 2012, most recently as a Vice President.
Sandler is a passionate champion of the Jewish people and Israel and comes to the JDC Presidency after decades of senior volunteer leadership positions at local, national, and international agencies, including in her home community of Virginia Beach, VA and the Jewish Federation system. Her wide-ranging efforts include arts, education, and cultural affairs as well as community development, youth, and mental health initiatives.
Sandler’s involvement in Jewish life and global humanitarian relief work is deeply influenced by her travel to dozens of countries worldwide. She has been deeply involved in the revitalization of the Jewish life in Romania, whose Jewish community and government have honored her for this transformative work. As a staunch supporter of Israel, she has been deeply involved in bolstering and innovating the country’s social service sector for 20-plus years.
Sandler and her husband Art have four children and four grandchildren.
