David Colman
David is a Principal of MIS Capital LLC, a social-impact real-estate development firm that specializes in sustainable development for institutional clients. Incorporated in 2008, the company’s mission is to integrate developer financing techniques, using taxable, tax exempt and grant funding sources, with development, design, and construction expertise, to realize legacy projects. MIS creates financially sustainable projects by identifying and utilizing properties that have dislocated values and unrecognized market opportunities to achieve quantifiable social and economic development results. The firm’s work includes the regeneration of brownfield properties, preservation of historic resources, enhancing educational facilities, job creation, health and healthy food access to improve the quality and character of communities and client environments.
As a volunteer, David serves in a variety of public roles. Among them, he serves on the Board of Directors of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee; as chair of the JDC-Israel Ashalim Advisory Board; on the Board of Visitors of the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition and the Foundation Board of Overseers at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia; on the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Theatre Company; and as a Trustee of the Jewish Family & Children’s Services of Greater Philadelphia.
David is a graduate of Wesleyan University, and has a master’s degree in architecture from the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University. He is married to Nancy Katz Colman, and they have three children, Alex (David Wilson), Lily and Drew.
