On May 15, Prof. Alex Weinreb met with Mr. Yair Maayan, Director General of the Authority for the Development and Settlement of the Bedouin in the Negev, and with his advisors and additional staff members to look closely at the study Youth Bulge, Violent Crime, and Shortages in the Israeli Arab Marriage Market. At the meeting, there was discussion of demographic issues and the age structure of the Bedouin population in the South, the rise in the level of education among Arab women, and the implications of these trends on the need to invest in educational infrastructure.
