Avi Weiss and Benny Bental met with Orna Barbivai, the Minister of the Economy and Industry

Professor Avi Weiss, the President of the Taub Center, and Professor Benny Bental, Chair of the Taub Center’s Economic Policy Program, met with MK Orna Barbivai, the Minister of Economy and Industry, and other government officials. At the meeting, they presented the Taub Center’s Picture of the Nation Report for 2021 and findings from more current research in the areas of health, economics and the labor market. Professor Weiss presented comparative data on Covid-19 infection among the various sectors and cities, as well as a forecast of the unemployment rate for the next two years. Professor Bental talked about the rapid recovery of the markets in Israel and the rest of the world. Nonetheless, he claimed that there have been changes in the labor market and that it has not returned to its former level of activity.
