Prof. John Gal, the Taub Center’s Welfare Policy Program Chair, presented on food insecurity in Israel, alongside representatives from Leket, Yad LaKashish and Latet’s Aid for Life, as part of a virtual mission for Donor Advised Fund Holders of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia.
The presentation included several policy options for addressing poverty, including integrating people living in poverty into the labor market through targeted programs; effective in-work tax credits for low-income workers; social investment programs for children; ensuring a decent standard of living for people living in poverty and not working; and immediate material support to address food insecurity, lack of access to medication, and poor housing conditions.
