As part of the close, long-standing relationship between the Taub Center and the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development), senior staff of the Center met with a delegation from the organization during their latest visit to Israel at the end of March as part of their process of drafting their biannual economic report on Israel (EDRC). Members of the delegation met with senior members of government ministries, the Bank of Israel, and the Taub Center, as well as other leading research institutes. The aim of the delegation was to gather data, establish working relations, and gain additional perspectives from key figures in economic and social policy research and policy making in Israel.
Prior to the meeting, the Taub Center received a variety of questions in central content areas. At the meeting, research findings were presented in the areas of macro-economics, the labor force, commuting, and patterns of working from home in the various industries in the labor market, as well as the areas of education and early childhood. There were also further discussions on the subjects of public health in Israel, issues of health system manpower, addressing the COVID-19 epidemic in Israel, and vaccination rates.
In the past decade, Taub Center researchers have maintained strong and productive relations with OECD teams, and have presented data, research findings, and had discussions on socio-economic issues in Israel. Over the years, the Taub Center has conducted joint conferences with the OECD as part of an effort to advance the shared goals of achieving continued improvement in the welfare of Israeli society and advancing research and meaningful dialogue on important policy issues.
