Nachum Blass

Principal Researcher and Education Policy Program Chair

Nachum Blass has been researching the field of education for over 50 years and has served as a senior researcher at the Taub Center for over 35 years. He is currently the head of the Education Policy Program at the Center.

In the past, Nachum has held various positions, including Deputy Director-General of the Ministry of Education, Director of the Chief Scientist’s Office in the Ministry of Education, Head of the Social Planning Department in the Development Division of the Ministry of Education, and Director of the Institute for the Development of Educational and Welfare Structures. Nachum coordinated and was involved in several projects, including: planning education for the 1980s, preparing for the absorption of immigrants from Russia, designing the long school day, the Shoshani Committee on primary education funding, and two subcommittees in the National Task Force on the Education System. Recently, he actively participated in the Steering Committee of the Shapira Committee and contributed to formulating its recommendations on “Education in the Context of Special Education.”

His research covers a wide range of topics, including: funding the education system, supply and demand for teaching staff, issues of equality in the education system, and special education.
